Martha and Eve are sleeping, leaving dad a moment to reflect on the past day.

24 hours ago we were waiting to go into the operating room.

Martha handled the whole thing beautifully. This was no surprise to me, because I think she always handles the important things in life beautifully. But I was still touched to witness her. She was good-natured about having to wait for hours for a scary surgery she was hoping to avoid in the first place, and she was brave when it finally happened. And with Eve out of the womb, Martha looks like a natural mother. I am blessed to have both of them in my life.

Almost one day old and I am so excited about the little person Eve is, and the kind and brave person she will become, just like her mother.
