news from France

Exciting times for Oma Helene...her book ("Peintres de la Seine") is being published at long last.  She and Opa Robert (not pictured) have been on a trip in France, where many of the local media, publishers, and others have greeted the book with enthusiasm.

first dentist visit

The girls went to the dentist for the first time this morning.  Although we were there for almost two hours (back-to-back appointments), they actually had fun.  They let Ella pick out her toy BEFORE her appointment, and it was pretty much her dream toy, a little purple rubber ducky.  When Ella's appointment started, she was asked by the dentist, "Do you know what dentists do?" and her immediate response was "Give me toys!"  (by her inflection, this was clearly an answer to the question, not a command).  Meanwhile Eve was excited about her own toy (queen rubber ducky) and new toothbrush, not to mention the cherry-flavored "vitamins" for her teeth.  We'll definitely be back to that place...Oh, and their teeth are apparently fine.

tough girl

Minor fracture near elbow after a spill. Not much crying...I guess this is less traumatic than having to sit at the table for dinner.
