sheet our daughter says

Recent quotes from Eve:

She often talks about "when I was little..."  I think this has started because we've been talking about how Ella is doing things that Eve did when she was little.

"I'm so proud of me!"

After I told her that she would be able to do something when she gets bigger: "I am getting bigger and bigger. So I'm already big, OK?"

"OK, bye, I need to go home and see my kids." (I think she picked this up because in California she would often ask where somebody, such as her nanny Carol, had gone after leaving our house.  And our answer was often that the person had to leave to go home and see his/her kids.)

uncaged

Last night we finally got Eve out of the crib and into a real bed. She's been ready for a long time. But we held off in California because her room wasn't safe for unsupervised play, and we held off here while we looked for a bed.  Martha had been checking craigslist religiously, and last weekend we jumped on an amazing deal for a Stanley Young bedroom set.  Eve surprised us last night by actually sleeping in her bed, with just one attempted escape. After her first escape, Martha had the bright idea of threatening her with a return to her crib (and crib tent), and that seems to be working.  It helps that Eve is in love with her new bed.

Meanwhile, Ella has started solid food (rice cereal) and is trying hard to crawl.  Now that her colic is completely over (knock on wood), she has become an incredibly smiley baby.
