trip to Nashville and Lexington

Luke, Travis, Samuel, and Becca on the swings, with Eve and Martha watching.

Martha's friend Linda holding Eve.

Martha's advisor in graduate school, Bob Margo, with Eve and Martha
(at the wedding of Bill Collins, another of her advisors from graduate school).

Not sure what Martha is communicating, but check out Eve's shoes.

Eve is happy to take advantage of a moment's inattention.

parents in Philly

The view from the apartment my parents just started renting in downtown Philadelphia. They are all about grand views these days (both here and in Oakland). I wonder if Eve will be afraid of heights like her dad...I think I'll be terrified to step out onto the balcony in my parents' apartment.

book worm

golden age of babyhood

We are understanding why some baby books refer to this age (almost 7 months) as the golden age of babyhood. For the last several weeks Eve has been smiling almost nonstop, and she has become very interested in her surroundings. She likes playing on her stomach, which makes us think she may be a crawler soon enough.

A few weeks ago we started giving her a bit of solid food to supplement her main diet of breastmilk. She makes funny tortured faces but otherwise seems to welcome each bite.

trip to Seattle

Someone ate mashed carrots.

Eve with Aunt Nina and Uncle Josh.

Eve charming Nina (or vice-versa?).

Eve holding court with Josh.

We had a great time in Seattle. We saw a lot of my old friends from Ultimate frisbee, and we saw Uncle Louis, Aunt Nina, and Uncle Josh. This was Eve's best trip yet--she spent most of the time handing out smiles to all comers. We didn't take many pictures, which is why two key players in the trip (Martha and Uncle Louis) are not represented above. But other people were taking photos, so I will try to fill in the gaps with their photos...more soon.
